Hurricane Ida History & Current Recovery Status
In 2021, Hurricane Ida struck Louisiana at 150mph with Category 4 winds, some of the strongest winds to ever hit the Pelican State. The National Hurricane Center reports that Ida produced storm surges of 9-14 feet, making it the second-most damaging hurricane in Louisiana history, after Hurricane Katrina (2005). Nearly a million residents lost power, and neighborhoods along the coast suffered damaged homes, lost vehicles and property, unemployment, and severe financial impacts. As part of the Louisiana Disaster Case Management Program (LADCMP) funded by the State of Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), Endeavors has established offices in Baton Rouge and Gretna, and is currently providing free Disaster Relief and Recovery services for hurricane survivors residing in the following 6 Louisiana parishes:
- St. Bernard
- Plaquemines
- Iberville
- Assumption
- St. James
- Jefferson
