Holiday Giving Guide: 5 Meaningful Ways to Give Back with Endeavors

The holidays bring a season of warmth, of joy, of togetherness, and of generosity.
As the air grows cold outside and we gather with family and friends around the fireplace and the table and the tree inside, it’s easy to understand why December has become a time of thoughtful kindness.
As we look around at our loved ones and our abundant blessings, somehow it becomes easy to say “yes” to helping those in need.
If you and your family are looking for ways to give back during the holidays, we would be honored if you’d consider Endeavors. Here are five different ways you can help Veterans, homeless families, hurricane victims, and victims of domestic violence over the 2019 Christmas season.
- Donate With Toys for Tots
Since 1947, Toys for Tots has been bringing joy to children’s faces during the holiday season. This program, run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, collects brand new toys as donations and distributes them to children whose parents cannot afford yearly gifts.
If you’d like to participate in this wonderful tradition, bring any new, unwrapped toy to our De Zavala location (6363 De Zavala) until December 12th. Donation boxes will be located on the 1st and 3rd floor!
- Help Homeless Populations
This winter, we are hosting a Holiday Drive to serve and meet the needs of homeless populations in the San Antonio area. To help give holiday cheer to those who may have none, there are a few things you can do! Donate and drop off new items like blankets, socks, underwear, baby wipes, hygiene products, gloves, coats, and sweaters to any one of our Veteran Supportive Services locations or Administrative Offices. Or, simply purchase items off of our Amazon Wish List and they will be donated to individuals in need.
- Shop With Purpose With AmazonSmile
Did you know that you can help Endeavors without giving a single cent? If you shop via this AmazonSmile link, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible smile.amazon.com purchases to Endeavors. The price of your shopping cart does not go up at all. One-click is all it takes to give back.
- Consider an Online Donation
Perhaps the easiest (and most effective) way to help Endeavors serve our populations in need is to give online. Your donation may provide job training to individuals with disabilities, give counseling for victims of domestic violence and their children, feed and house homeless mothers and their families, help rebuild family homes after natural disasters, assist Veterans at risk of homelessness, and more.

- Support Hurricane Victims
Hurricane disaster relief efforts may not be in the news over the holiday season, but the effects still linger in affected areas. We are still collecting donations for victims of Hurricane Imelda, and we would be honored if you’d choose to remember and serve these families and individuals over the holidays! A gift of $100 can help provide one flood bucket kit to a family in need. Click here for more details.
