MAX M. KNOLL
Max completed their Master’s program in 2013 after an internship at the VA Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. They worked for three years as a Readjustment Counseling Therapist for the Columbus, Ohio Vet Center, specializing in trauma treatment for combat veterans and those who had experienced military sexual trauma. Max relocated with their wife, Judith, to San Antonio in 2016 and took a position as a licensed professional mental health counselor at the Audie Murphy VA, where they were a member of the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team for South Texas, served as the Women’s Mental Health Coordinator, and were on the LGBTQ+ advisory committee. They became an LPC Supervisor in 2020 and worked with LPC Interns and Associates within the South Texas VA’s training programs. Before leaving federal employment, they were a team lead and clinic manager for one of the VA’s Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Programs. Max joined The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors in September 2022 and was promoted to Supervising Clinician in November 2022.
Max has facilitated several groups, including CBT-Depression, CBT-PTSD, Coping with Military Sexual Trauma, and DBT Skills Group. They also have specialized training in Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Imagery Rehearsal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and CBT for Chronic Pain.
Prior to finding their calling in the counseling field, Max served as an Arabic Linguist in the U.S. Air Force, completing three tours in the Middle East. They now enjoy trail running, rock climbing, hiking, and playing with their two French Bulldogs.
